Cafe Press Bans Great Los Angeles Walk T-Shirts!

November 20, 2007

Several Great Los Angeles Walkers told me on Saturday that they tried to buy a shirt (featuring the cool logo designed by Maria)… but that suddenly the shirts had vanished from our Cafe Press site.

Now I know why: Apparently the Cafe Press folk felt that the logo borrowed too heavily from Converse shoes, and that was a no-no.

Too bad. So now we’re looking for perhaps a local T-shirt shop to produce a handful of shirts. We still won’t make a dime off of them, so it shouldn’t provoke a rise out of the fine, fine (quite lovely, actually) people at Converse.

Any of you recommend a good company that prints T-shirts? Once we get it figured out, I’ll let all of you know.

It’s Not Quite "I Love L.A.," But It’s a Start

June 14, 2007

Not quite ready to profess your love for our fine town? Thrillist points to the I [Stomach] L.A. shirt as one way to show that you still don’t quite get your adopted home… but you’re trying.

Thankfully, the I Stomach shirt folks are equal opportunity offenders: They also sell a “I [Stomach] N.Y.” shirt as well. From their website:

What’s that? You don’t “heart” hanging out in your car for hours on the 10 and/or 405 and/or 101? Or you don’t “heart” paying $1500 for your crappy studio in Murray Hill? Or maybe you’re not “hearting” that one homeless guy who yells horrible things at you when you walk by in the morning? We here at Twee Shirts™ know and want to say, “Hey, it’s OK to just stomach your city sometimes!”. And at least now, when you’re sitting in traffic or writing the rent check, you can be wearing an adorable, printed American Apparel t-shirt that expresses that feeling!

Coming soon, again as equal opportunity shirts: “I [Smell] Vernon” and “I [Smell] Jersey.”

Hip Clothes For the Cool Toddler

February 13, 2007

We discovered last year that one of Evan’s playmates is the son of up-and-coming kiddie clothing designer Paulina Quintana. It all made sense: Paulina’s kid was always the best-dressed of Evan’s pals.

That also meant that Evan scored big time on his birthday, receiving a bag full of hip threads from the Paulina Quintana collection. So yes, we’re a little biased. But I wouldn’t be doing this blog post if I didn’t truly believe that the clothes rock — and they’ll make your little one the best-dressed kid in the room.

Paulina Quintana has a shop in New York and here in Silver Lake, at 1519 Griffith Park Blvd. (right off of Sunset Blvd., next to where the Silver Lake Farmers’ Market is held).
